What is CBD or Hemp oil?

CBD stands for “cannabidiol”, which is one of the main cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It’s made by extracting the oil (more like a resin, really) from hemp (cannabis plants that have low levels of THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol). It is then mixed with a carrier oil (such as MCT oil) for greater bioavailability.

Does CBD/ hemp make you feel high?

No. CBD is not psychoactive. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the compound responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis.

What are the benefits of CBD / hemp?

CBD can help you to relax without making you high. It can also reduce inflammation and pain. Research is just beginning to confirm the many ways that CBD can help us to feel better and stay healthier.

What is the difference between cannabis and hemp?

Hemp is actually a legal term; it refers to the plant’s THC content (by dry weight). The percentage varies from country to country, based on current laws, but 0.3% is a popular legal limit.

The term “marijuana” is used to classify cannabis with more THC than hemp. Consuming these plants can induce a mind-altering or psychotropic effect.

Why is it important that the CBD/ hemp is organically grown?

All cannabis plants, including hemp, are bio-accumulators. This means they accumulate substances (including pesticides and other toxins) from the soil. It takes a lot of plant material to make CBD oil, which means those pesticides will be more concentrated in the final product. The only way to be sure you’re not taking in all those toxic chemicals is to use certified organic products.

How do I know my CBD / hemp oil is safe?

Safe, high-quality CBD oil is free from contamination.

Contamination can come from pesticides, herbicides, and other toxins the plants are exposed to; heavy metals in the soil; poor growing conditions that encourage mold; and poor extraction methods.

Our CBD oils are certified organic (free from pesticides, herbicides and other toxins); they are tested for heavy metals, mold and other contaminants; and they’re extracted using a triple-CO2 process. (This is important because inferior extraction processes may contaminate the oil.) They are then tested by reputable labs, ensuring the purest, safest CBD oils for you and your family.

What is the difference between full-spectrum and an isolated CBD/ hemp oil?

A full-spectrum CBD oil contains all of the phytonutrients found in the cannabis plant. The oil is extracted in a way that preserves the other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids (but with only trace amounts of THC). These phytochemicals have fantastic healing properties, and they interact with each other to produce something known as the entourage effect (which simply means that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts).

Isolated CBD oil contains only CBD, with none of the other phytonutrients. Full-spectrum CBD oil is therefore considered more effective for health and wellness, while the isolate may be more appropriate for treating specific medical conditions (such as certain forms of epilepsy).

How long will a 20ml bottle of CBD / hemp oil last?

This varies greatly, depending on your body and why you’re taking CBD. At a dosage of 1/3 of a dropper (0.5mg) twice a day, your bottle will last 20 days. If you’re just getting started, it’s a good idea to begin with a few drops once or twice a day and increase the dosage slowly until you find the amount that’s right for you.

How long does CBD / hemp take to work?

There is no hard and fast rule. It depends on the method of consumption, the potency of the product, and what symptoms you’re trying to relieve.

CBD oil can take between 30 minutes to five hours to be absorbed in the system. Taking it sublingually (under the tongue or between the gum and the cheek) leads to much faster absorption than taking it with food.

What’s important is to find the right dose for yourself and be consistent. Start with a low dose and build up slowly, monitoring how you feel.

It can take up to a month to start feeling the beneficial effects, so stick with it for a while!

How do I store CBD / hemp oil?

It’s important to keep the product away from direct sunlight. Store in a cool, dry and dark place and don’t expose it to excessive heat.

What are superfoods?

Superfoods are foods that are exceptionally high in important nutrients. For example, cacao is considered a superfood thanks to its high level of antioxidants, while hemp and chia seeds are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids and quality plant-based protein.

How do I know which superfoods to use?

Superfoods are loaded with nutrition, so you can’t go wrong with any of them. One approach is to try them out and see what you like. You could, for example, add some cacao and maca to your coffee and see how you like it.

The most popular way to try superfoods is in a smoothie. There are plenty of great recipes you could try! And if you’re looking for something quick and easy, try one of our smoothie powders.
